Gin Basil Smash aka Gin Pesto
THE STORY
This is a very simple and refreshing cocktail recipe.
Make sure you use enough basil. It might sound like a lot, but it’s not.
If you are too bothered to remove the leaves from the stems, just throw the entire thing in.
THE RECIPE
Gin Basil Smash aka Gin Pesto
A very quick and refreshing cocktail. Tangy gin flavour, notes of basil and acidity from the lemon, balanced out by the sugar syrup.
Ingredients
- 15 basil leaves
- 60 ml gin
- 30 ml lemon juice
- 20 ml sugar syrup
Method
- Put the basil leaves in a shaker or glass jar with a lid.
- Muddle the basil using a muddler or a wooden spoon. Don't use too
- Add the remaining ingredients and a scoop of ice.
- Shake for 15 seconds.
- Pour into a double old fashioned glass filled with ice and using a fine strain.
- TIP: Use a big ice block, as its dilution is slower and your drink won't water down as fast.
